Polling Day - time to vote Lib Dem and stop the nazi BNP

Please don't leave it to someone else - they may be leaving it to you!

Pilots from all over the world defended our nation against the nazi threat in the Battle of Britain in 1940

‘Never in the field of human conflict has so much been owed by so many to so few.’ Winston Churchill, 20th August 1940.

This time we outnumber them by far - if we stand together, we will defeat the fascist, racist isolationist far right BNP and their pale imitation, UKIP

We're stronger together - poorer apart

The BNP is not a normal democratic party - it has a fascist and racist agenda and nazi roots.    A vote for the BNP is a vote against democracy,  justice and a fair society.
"We must re-create the European family in a regional structure called, it may be, the United States of Europe. And the first practical step would be to form a Council of Europe.   If at first all the States of Europe are not willing or able to join the Union we must nevertheless proceed to assemble and combine those who will and those who can.   The salvation of the common people of every race and of every land from war or servitude must be established on solid foundations and must be guarded by the readiness of all men and women to die rather than submit to tyranny."   -  Winston Churchill,  Zurich, 19th September 1946
Liberal Democrats stand firmly against racism, fascism and prejudice of all kinds.

Nick Clegg, Liberal Democrat leader,  said at the party's Spring Conference this year:  "There are some moments in history when the unthinkable happens  - when more is destroyed than ever seemed imaginable...
But, you know, there's another big failing of the past we still need to defeat - isolationism.  The terrifying lesson of history is that economic turmoil breeds populism, extremism, xenophobia.  It starts with an anti-immigrant protest here, an incendiary speech there. It grows, day by day, and unless defeated it can tear a country apart."  (Lib Dem Statement of principles)

Searchlight is the main resource for countering the far right. Searchlight's aim is ‘to combat racism, fascism and all forms of prejudice. Searchlight is a non-sectarian organisation in political, ethnic and religious terms. It believes in achieving the broadest possible unity in the fight against racism, neo-nazism, fascism and prejudice’.

www.searchlightmagazine.com contains articles on far right activity and the run up to the elections

www.stopthebnp.com is a related website run by Searchlight which contains information about the BNP, their policies and tactics.   There is also a phone line - for further information and support - 020-7681-8660

Unite Against Fascism is an umbrella organised primarily by trade unions to encourage activity against extremist political parties. Signatories to the UAF statement include MPs and trade unionists.  The Methodist Church supports the aims and values of the Unite Against Fascism Campaign.

The Commission on Urban Life and Faith is an Anglican-led initiative to promote a vision of urban life which analyses and addresses the realities of its glories, injustices and needs. The Commission will be encouraging an awareness of political extremism in towns and cities. Contact culf@c-of-e.org.uk
The Methodist Church says the policies and practices of those who promote racism and religious intolerance are incompatible with the its social witness, biblical teaching and understanding of the love of God for all people.  It encourages people to vote in local, national and European elections. While not endorsing any particular political party, it urges people not to vote for candidates who promote racist policies. (in full)

The Bishop of Stafford says "The BNP are crude and simplistic.  They are evil.  Please do not vote for a party that seeks to divide us." (further comment).  The Church of England has banned its clergy and lay workers from joining the BNP.
Henry Grunwald QC, President of the Board of Deputies of British Jews, said: “As a community, we need to unite to say no to the politics of hate and extremism wherever they may be. The unhappy reality is that the BNP is gaining momentum.  I, for one, am not prepared to say that I sat back and did nothing whilst a national racist campaign is launched across Britain. The Board of Deputies is doing everything it can to support local community groups in our collective fight against the BNP and I hope that, collectively, we will rise to the occasion.”  (in full)

The North Staffordshire Campaign Against Racism and Fascism  - the local anti-fascist organisation

The BNP website contains details of their manifestos and current campaigns. Although the language of the site has been toned down in order to improve its media-friendliness, it still shows the underlying fascism and racism within the party. Its local and European election literature tries to disguise this.  (They're taking our Spitfires! and What the Times said)

The best way to fight fascism and the nazi-BNP is always to vote Liberal Democrat - every time and in every election.

Don't leave it to someone else - they may be leaving it to you.
