Sojourn’s driving seat In response to some enquiries, here are some details of the 'driving seat' we have on Sojourn. |

Top view of the seat - the lower straight edge is the back, and the seat fits over the edge of the left hand corner of the wings. The overall width is about 400mm and overall depth (front to back) just under 300mm and the seat top is made of ply deck board about 17mm thick. |
This view is looking up at the underneath of the seat from the front. To the right (boat’s left) can be seen the ’slot’ for the top rail of the wing which is formed by battens along the outer edge and the central stay. The rubber door buffer near the front edge sits on top of the wing rail. The right hand end of the piece of batten at the base of the stay locates against the outer wing, while the rear of this batten is in contact with the rear panel. |

Looking up at the underside of the seat from what would be the centre of the boat. This view shows the rear half of the channel for the top rail and also how the stay is fitted to the underside. The edging battens are made of timber about 28x48mm. The block holding the stay is of about 45x75timber and the vertical stay is a 220x260mm piece of 16mm ply with a 20x33mm batten fixed to the bottom. The seat is of screwed and glued construction. An alternative stay might be triangular to locate in the rear corner of the wing. |
